DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K)

DC4K provides your children with a safe and neutral place to gain an age-appropriate understanding of separation and divorce. They will learn how to process and share their feelings. The weekly session topics help your children learn that God’s love strengthens them and helps them turn their sadness to hope and their anger to joy.

Each session is filled with motivating and exciting activities. Games, crafts, role playing, discussion times, journaling, and activity books help your children process the divorce and move forward in their lives. The music, snacks, read-aloud stories, exercises, and Bible verses teach your children to relax and rest secure in God’s love. DC4K is designed for kids 5–12 years of age. Must be registered and have a parent in the DivorceCare group.

Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Training

  • Starting Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 for 10 Weeks from 12-2pm. Reservations for child-care must be confirmed by Friday, August 30th.

Give your children what they need most: You

When children have problems, sometimes they don’t have the words to talk about them. Play gives children a way to communicate feelings they don’t understand or can’t express any other way. Play therapy has been shown to be an effective intervention with children for a variety of behavioral and emotional difficulties.  Research has shown that motivated parents can be trained to be as effective as play therapists using play therapy skills with their own children, with as little as 20 hours of Child-Parent-Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Training.

Research studies have shown that Child-Parent-Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Training can:

Reduce or eliminate behavior problems

Enhance the parent-child relationship and marital relationship

Develop responsibility and self-control in children

Increase children’s self-esteem and self-confidence

Increase parents’ feelings of warmth for their children

Return control to parents

Child-Parent-Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Training is conducted in 10 weekly, 2-hour sessions.  The atmosphere is friendly and accepting and the training interactive, making it enjoyable and interesting.

Some of the things you will learn include:

How to help your child open up to you

Therapeutic limit -setting

Recognizing emotional needs and building self-esteem

Fostering creativity, self-control, and self-responsibility

$400 per household (up to two parents/caretakers) that’s just $20-per-hr; $350 if paid at the first session. Scholarships Available; Freedom Fellowship Church member discount of $100 available. Contact Madison Short @ the Door of Hope Counseling Center, New Braunfels TX. Madison@DoorofHopeNB.org or call 830-632-5039 for details on how to enroll. Childcare for preschoolers is available with advance arrangements through Madison.
